Been quiet but this chap has been visiting my feeders on and off. Its one of at least two Coal Tits busily harvesting the sunflower seeds but this one is different to the others…. The slightly larger bulkier look and the small tufty crest effect make the jizz slightly odd and the blue grey tones to the mantle, large striking white nape patch and large bib lead me to Continental Coal Tit rather than a home grown one. However it doesn’t seem as clean grey blue as some I have seen on the east coast but still contrasts with the local birds enough I think. The underside colour seems somehow cleaner, less sullied in tone and paler than our resident birds too.

Sadly each time I see it well enough to photograph it the lights rubbish!
