10th March

Been quiet the last week, was going for the Chinese Pond Heron but wasn’t well enough to make the trip. So today and yesterday I pottered in the garden. Yesterday saw our Mahonia full of bees, and surprisingly honey bees which have been scarce for the last few years (although more numerous last year). I wonder if someone has a hive nearby?

Yesterday saw the first Butterfly of the year (if you don’t count the hibernating Small Tortoiseshell in the bathroom!). These were two Peacocks enjoying the warm sunshine. Also making the most of the break in the weather were up to 20 Common Frogs in our tiny pond!
