2014 started damply, very damply! We had a quick trip up to Carsington with friends on New Years day, the GNDiver was seen briefly but the weather was so bad we retired to the cafe where a cream scone was my focus of attention!
The garden has been quiet, the first Robin was singing by the front streetlight on the 7th January, Goldfinch started singing on the 10th. 15plus House Sparrows have been the main visitors to the feeders.
Last night (the 9th) I decided to try a bit of star photography to mixed results. The SX50 isn’t really up to it but I managed Jupiter and its 4 moons… the 1sec shutter speed sadly resulted in picking up the movement of the earth resulting in slight elongating of the spots LOL. In life we could see the bands on Jupiter through the 30x on the ‘scope. I couldn’t get the camera to do that though.
The moon however was a bit easier!
